NYSA is now accepting nominations for the 2010 Staffing Employee of the Year Award. This prestigious award is presented to one individual who exemplifies the ASA five key messages of temporary employment:
1. Jobs: The staffing industry matches millions of people to millions of jobs every day.
2. Flexibility: Employees can choose when, where, and how they want to work. Companies can get the skills they need to keep fully staffed during busy times.
3. Bridge: Temporary and contract work provides a bridge to permanent employment. People can try out a prospective employer and showcase their skills for a permanent job.
4. Choice: Many people choose temporary and contract work as a preferred employment option. They can select their work schedules and choose among a variety of diverse and challenging assignments.
5. Training: The staffing industry provides free training for millions of temporary and contract employees to help meet today’s demand for skilled workers.
The individual who receives this award will be entered into the National Staffing Employee of the Year Award with the American Staffing Association. Nominations are open to both members and nonmembers.

Congratulations to the New York Staffing Association for winning National Awards!
The New York Staffing Association was honored at
Staffing World® 2009, the annual convention and expo of the American
Staffing Association, held Oct. 20-23 in Orlando. NYSA received a Superior Chapter Merit
award for its outstanding programs and chapter efforts during 2009, and a Legislative Superior award for its outstanding
legislative efforts.
NYSA Executive Director, Jennifer D. Kelley, accepted the award from
ASA chairman Bill Stoller, CSP, CPC, at a special award ceremony
during the convention.
ASA evaluated
state associations on their support of the staffing industry through chapter
meetings, special events, educational seminars, government relations
activities, and community outreach efforts, and honored the chapters with the
most outstanding programs with merit awards.
Legislative merit awards recognize state staffing
associations that took positive and effective steps to make sure legislators
understand how the staffing industry benefits the economy. These steps included
face-to-face meetings, testimony at legislative hearings, letter-writing
campaigns, state capitol hill days, and other political activities.
