The New York Staffing Association was incorporated on September 22, 1964 under the original name of "Association of Temporary Office Services, Inc" under the Not-for-profit Corporation Law in the State of New York. In the early 1990's, the Board of Directors decided to change the association name to "New York Association of Temporary Services, Inc." to reflect the geographical area that is represented by the association. On December 29, 2003, the name was once again changed to "New York Staffing Association", so that our name was all-encompassing of the staffing industry as a whole including direct hire, temp to perm, temp, etc., as well as providing recognition of our associate members.
NYSA is now celebrating it's 47th year of service to the State of New York as The Voice of the Staffing Industry. In the past 47 years, NYSA has successfully achieved important legislative accomplishments and provided ongoing education for our members. NYSA has built a strong network of staffing companies unified to represent New York within the American Staffing Association.
NYSA is strictly financially operated by membership dues and event revenue. NYSA employees one full-time Excecutive Director, Ms. Jennifer Kelley, and is otherwise completely volunteer-based. Ms. Kelley's office is headquartered in Manhattan, however she does travel monthly to other chapters for local programming and recruiting events.
NYSA maintains six chapters throughout the New York including Albany, Buffalo, Long Island, Manhattan(Metro), Rochester and Westchester. Each of these chapters has a local director who sits on the State Board of Directors. The Manhattan(Metro) Chapter contains about 90% of NYSA members and has its own Board of Directors. Both the State Board and the Metro Board work collaboratively to promote NYSA and its ideals to the staffing community.
NYSA has a limited membership slots available in order to provide excellence in our membership support. NYSA allows 100 Members and 50 Industry Partners per year. NYSA focuses on building a close relationship with each of its members so that we can better serve each company's needs. Once an application has been received, a visit will be scheduled by our Executive Director, Ms. Jennifer Kelley, and a Board of Directors member to see if your company meets NYSA membership qualifications and so that you may also have the opportunity to learn what NYSA will personally be able to provide to your company. Currently, NYSA is accepting new member applications and Industry Partner applications.
