Staffing Employee of the Year:

We are pleased to announce that the New York Staffing Association just celebrated National Staffing Employee Week, September 14-18, 2009. NSEW is a nationwide campaign to honor the achievements of America’s temporary and contract workers and to raise public awareness about the positive contributions they make to our communities.

NYSA will be celebrating locally and holding our own contest to select the New York Staffing Employee of the Year. We invite you to join in this celebration of the candidates that support the staffing industry in New York.

We’re excited to be part of this worthwhile program to help commemorate the many positive contributions that staffing employees make, but we need your enthusiasm and involvement to guarantee this program’s success!

We ask that your company select its own Staffing Employee of the Year and submit that name to us for the chapter contest. Use the form enclosed to submit your entry to NYSA. We must receive it by October 15th for your nominee to be considered in the statewide contest.

The individual you choose must be an exceptional representative of the staffing industry—a shining example of a staffing success story. A retiree who works to stay active and contributes valuable experience. A person who chooses temporary work for the flexibility and variety of diverse and challenging assignments. A homemaker who receives training through your company to launch a new career.

All nominees and the state finalist will be announced on October 29, 2009 at the Annual Membership Meeting and Halloween Holiday Party at Carnival. Please take this opportunity to help us promote our industry on a statewide basis. Submit at least one name and plan on bringing your staff to our exciting gala event. The winner will receive a beautiful Tiffany’s engraved paperweight from NYSA, recognition in the NYSA newsletter and several gift certificates and other prizes.

The American Staffing Association is asking its members to submit candidates for national recognition. If you are a member of both NYSA and ASA, you have the opportunity to have your star employee honored at both the state and national levels. ASA will contact its members directly regarding the national celebration.

This is a fantastic way to give recognition to your outstanding candidates and let them know how much you appreciate their dedication and commitment to your firm.  We encourage you to participate, to have fun, and to help make this program a success for all of us. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me at 646-723-3215.

New York Staffing Association Wins National Awards

The New York Staffing Association was honored at Staffing World® 2008, the annual convention and expo of the American Staffing Association, held Oct. 22–25 in San Diego. NYSA received a chapter superior award for its outstanding programs and chapter efforts in 2008, and an award for its outstanding legislative efforts.

NYSA state president Kate Post
accepted the awards from ASA chairman Linda Carchidi, CSP.

The American Staffing Association evaluated state associations on their support of the staffing industry through chapter meetings, special events, educational seminars, and community outreach efforts, and honored the chapters with the most outstanding programs with merit awards.

State staffing associations that won legislative merit awards took positive and effective steps to make sure legislators understand the role of flexible jobs and how the staffing industry benefits the economy. These steps included face-to-face meetings, testimony at legislative hearings, letter-writing campaigns, state capitol hill days, and other political activities.

NYSA is a statewide association of staffing companies in New York. The staffing industry in New York employs 385,152 temporary and contract employees per year.

ASA represents the $91 billion U.S. staffing industry. Member companies operate more than 15,000 offices across the nation and account for 85% of U.S. industry sales.
